 Healthy Eating Tips

Healthy eating begins with healthy choices!

- Healthy preparation - be aware of adding salt when cooking
- When dining out, request your meal be prepared without salt
- Eat fresh foods whenever possible
- For example, canned tomato sauce has 600 mg of sodium
- A fresh tomato has only 24 mg of sodium
- Flavor foods with fresh and dried herbs instead of salt
- Consider basil, oregano, cilantro or an herb-based salt substitute
- Try low-sodium versions of broth, bouillon & canned foods
