Expert Advice with Dana Lightman

The Big "O" - Optimism!

1. Tap into optimism. Optimism is a key ingredient for health, longevity, energy, well-being and empowerment.

2. Believe in your success. When you expect favorable results to occur because of your actions, you are motivated to change unhealthy behaviors for a healthy lifestyle.

3. Cultivate your positive attitude. You can intentionally increase your optimism set-point. Make a decision to replace unproductive, negative patterns with positive thoughts, feelings and behaviors.

4. Find your upward spiral. When you feel overwhelmed, anxious, stressed or frustrated, change your negative mood to a positive mood by altering your thoughts and behaviors.

5. Let go of limiting beliefs. Replace "I can’t" with "I can." By choosing empowering beliefs, you are creating conditions for successfully improving your health and well-being.

6. Be Proactive. Take an active role in creating your health by seeking advice and following through with goals.

7. Be Open-minded. Look at ALL possible courses of actions such as traditional and alternative health options and make the choices that are right for you.

8. Be Well-informed. Appraise your health objectively to determine what choices are working for you and where you need to make changes for optimum health.

9. Be Evolving. Gain insights from your experience with your physical and emotional health to further you personal growth and development.

10. Be Resilient. If you experience a setback in your healthy lifestyle choices, view it as temporary and focus on your next success.
